Living in London at the moment so no stranger to the cold, am going to spend a week in Madrid over the new year period - how cold does it get at this time, does it usually snow, etc, if anyone's spent time in London do you know how the 2 compare (which is colder)? No idea what to pack!

Whatever you'd need in London is probably what you'll need in Madrid over New Years. In the two visits I've made to Madrid over New Years there have been periods of snow both times. So bring your gloves, scarves, and maybe even a hat - if you don't mind mussing your hair.
