I'm traveling to Spain from February 6 to February 17. This time I'm blessed to bring my boyfriend with me and show him how wonderful Spain is. We are planning to stay in Madrid for 4 days. Can anyone recommend a good hostal/hotel at a moderate price with an elevator? I prefer the Plaza Mayor/Puerta del Sol area. Thanks for your help! wink

Romina,

One hotel that stands out in my mind is Hostal Pereda . They have an elevator, an ancient model, but nonetheless it is an elevator. This particular hotel is located near Puerta del Sol on Calle Valverde.
Rates are 31.85 for a single, 50.49 for a double, 63.11 for a triple. Breakfast is 2.40.

Another hotel, more expensive, is Hostal Persal . Also located near Plaza Mayor/Sol, rates are 65 for a single, 85 for a double, and 105 for a triple. Breakfast is included in the price.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.

There is a hostalin the centre of Sol, on Calle Cruz, I stayed there last Nov it is a very clean hostal, they clean the room and change the beds every day, the price is 4,000pts per night and you get your breakfast in the morning which is served between 8.30-11. It is very small!! one piece of bread with butter and strawberry jam and a cup of coffee, so if you miss it dont worry you don´t miss much!!
The hostal is open 24hrs, when you arrive back to your hostal, you just ask the person at the reception for the key to your room, My room is a double bed, I have a bath and shower and toilet, its very compact, I am not exactly the heaviest-tallest person, but I would imagine for a 6ft man it would prove difficult.
It also had an elevator to the rooms
All the best

I stayed at Hostal Aresol this past May. The Hostal has an elevator, private bathrooms, and you can see the Puerta del Sol from your balcony! Each guest gets his own key, so you can come/go as you please. The rates are very reasonable, and you can book online. The manager speaks very little English, however.
