I agree with Miss Madrid's recommendation. While in Sevilla, I went to El Arenal and enjoyed the show immensely.

Sevilla's biennial (every 2-years) flamenco festival is going on now until 7 October. You can see fixed price ticket performances at the Stadium and the Maestranza (bullring) or the Teatro de la Maestranza. Then there are places like las Brujas and El Arenal where you might wind up spending a few bucks more.

el arenal is definetly the best choice for a set show. its a very good show and set in a pretty little building down a small street. however, you have to wander through triana to find that litle place where the flamenco just emerges from the people. that's when you really feel it. as for names of places...i honestly couldn't tell you. its late at night, a couple drinks, a few cigarettes, some flamenco and it just being a beautiful night in sevilla...last thing on my mind is the name of some little place. doesn't matter though, just slip into somewhere... and it'll be there.

puna & arty_lass,

I believe the club you are talking about is "Carboneria". I've read that this place has been around for a long time. I went there this summer with three of my friends and we had such a great time there.

I'm not sure how to get there, all I remember was that the cab driver was driving way too fast around those narrow streets in sevilla, and we were so happy once we got there. But I definitely recommend Carboneria - when we went, there seemed to be a lot of locals and musicians there. Have fun!
