I'll be in Seville this October and while I'm there, I'd like to check out a Flamenco show.

If anyone has been to a flamenco show in Seville, where was it located, what was it called, and how did you enjoy it/would you recommend it?

Thanks!

I saw the Flamenco show at "Los Gallos" in the Santa Cruz district on Plaza de Santa Cruz. I would highly recommend it. They have 2 shows each evening at 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm, and last about 2 hours. I believe the price was 3000 to 3500 ptas each which includes one drink. Depending on where you are staying, we purchased are tickets directly from our hotel.

I saw Los Gallos last year and liked it - you could experience the show without feeling like you were in Las Vegas. I had taken my daughter to a highly recommended show in Granada a couple of years prior - and while the dancing and music were good - the busloads of people left a lot to be desired. Las Gallos offers an intimacy with the performers due to the small size of the stage and room. Granted - the best flaminco is when you find it unexpectedly - at a neighborhood bar ...then it's really the true stuff. While you're in Sevilla - go over to Triana - perhaps someone can think of the name of the place that's owned by a flaminco guitarist????

Triana is packed with that, i prefer to go there and go to the little bars that just have someone playing guitar and people dancing, not a formal show.

Go to Bar Peregil near Santa Catalina. Peregil owns the bar and often breaks into song when in the mood.

In today's ed. of the NYTimes, on the back page of the Travel section, is a wonderful article by a woman who when a student, fell in love with Cordoba and dancing sevillanas. It is funny. She's a real SPANOPHILE. Invite her to the board, MM!

Jen, we stayed at Hotel Don Paco which is next door to Bar Peregil for five nights last February. He, Peregil, made us feel so welcomed. It was one of the best bars I've ever been to in Sevilla, and the flamenco was the best! I received a Peregil tape as a gift from my fellow travelers.
