Hostal Levante is fine, and it's in a good central location. Drop me an email when you come to Barcelona. We'll have to speak English though, I don't know Portuguese!

I hope this e-mail doesn't come too late. I just returned from our trip and we wouldn't return to Hostal Levante. Although the rooms were spacious, clean, and the staff was very helpful, if quiet is what you need to sleep you will not get it at this time of year. There was no A/C and with the windows open you catch everything. The biggest problem was garbage pick up which was every night between 03:00 and 03:30. We averaged 3 hours sleep every night. The area around there can be a little dicey at night so stay on your toes.

Just got back from Spain. Hostal Levante was OK. Just OK. People are indeed helpful and nice, the room was clean and big, the building was interesting and very central. The only problem was really the area. Also not good if you have a car. It was very difficult to drive there and there are few parkings around.

Can14, I didn't really notice the noise, I guess we were just too tired and slept like angels!
