We will be in Gibralter for the day in October. We would like to take the ferry over to Morocco for the day. We will be on the cruise ship Constellation so have to be back by 4:30. Do you think this can be done?

Sorry, but it is not possible. Ferries only leave from Gibraltar for Morocco twice a week i think. I caught one in 2000 and it took around 3 hours to make the trip, so even if you were lucky enough to be there on the day a ferry departs Gibraltar you will not make it back in time anyway.

Maybe not from Gibraltar, but if you go to Algeciras, which is just 15 mins up the road, or Tarifa (about a half hour drive) then there are daily ferries and there is a catamaran that takes just 35 minutes to cross the Straits. smile

Where is the quickest crossing - Tarifa or Algeciras? We are going to attempt a day trip to Morocco leaving for the Malaga area. Is it worth going all the way to Tarifa for a better ferry or would leaving from Algeciras be just as good?

Thanks

Papalou

I went to Tanger from Punta de Tarifa and made the round trip in one day, felt like when I went from Miami to the Bahamas in one day also. Great place this Tanger, loved it, I went in 1981.
