I'll be in Spain from July 2 to 13 [!!!!] with my husband & 2 teenage daughters. After 4 days in Madrid we plan to take the AVE train to Cordoba & Sevilla. From Sevilla we'll go to Granada for 2 days then back to Madrid. Don't want to deal with driving. Is there a fast train to Granada from Seville? Most important...is there an overnight train from Granada to Madrid. I can see on the hateful RENFE site that there are overnight trains from Madrid to Granada, but I can't seem to get info on the reverse route. Anyone have experience with this??

The Sev-Gra route is served by Regional trains and they are not precisely fast. It takes about 3 hours. Departs from Seville at 7a, 11:50a, 3:55p, 5:40p and cost 20.05 EUR.

This information can be found at this RENFE\'s webpage

Neither there are night trains Mad-Gra, nor Gra-Mad. It is served by Talgos and there are two daily services:

Dep from Gra at 8a, arr in Mad at 2:06p.
Dep from Gra at 5:05p, arr in Mad at 11:16p.

Fares: Tourist 31.30 EUR, First class 41.20 EUR.

This information can be found at this RENFE\'s webpage

Anyway, if you look at the links I put, you can see that RENFE has not released yet their summer/fall schedule, because all trains have a 'running period' from Dec'05 to Jun'06. We, in Spain, are not very anticipatory regarding trains. Check the Website during this week or the next, because they cannot delay much more the schedules to be public. Usually, there are not many changes, more trains (for better) if it is any.

It may also be worth looking into going from Granada to Madrid by air. Check the websites of Iberia and other lines that run flights between cities in Spain--oftentimes they have really cheap one-way deals.

You can also check the bus from Granada to Madrid, which is what we did in April. It left at 10 am and arrived at 3:00 pm, very nice, only cost 14 Euros I think per person. Scott

There are two direct trains from Granada to Madrid (and vice versa):

leave 08:00 arrive 14:06 31,30 Euros
leave 17:05 arrive 23:16 35,40 Euros

I really like this train ride. It goes through some very pretty country.

I got my tickets for my future train ride at the Renfe office in Terminal 1.
Interesting that they told me I would have to get the Ronda-Bobadilla ticket in Ronda.
I got the Bobadilla to Cordoba ticket at Renfe and the regional one in Ronda.
I think the Cordoba station is the best one!
