Madrid : free Spanish language course for extranjeros???

Hi there
I have heard on the grapevine that there are free courses available to foreigners in Madrid. Is this true? If so I would love to find out some more info. If anyone could help it would really be appreciated.

Yes, the ayuntamiento de Madrid gives free Spanish classes:

Also the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (in Madrid and all over Spain) offers very cheap classes--but you have to get a slot in September, I think.
