Gymnasium Vocabulary Help - 05/13/03 12:32 AM

With all of pim's great recipes, I have been thinking a lot about the gym. Sadly, I don't know some of the basic vocabulary in Spanish. If someone know the following please clue me in, it is annoying not knowing the proper names.

tredmill--------¿rueda de andar?

stationary bycicle---¿bicicleta fija? or ¿bicicleta estacionaria?

situps/crunches------¿abdominales??

pushups--------no idea

pullups-------no idea

thanks,

Shawn

Probably these are the spanish terms you are looking for:

tredmill -->cinta de correr
stationary bycicle -->bicicleta estática

situps/crunches-->abdominales

pullups-->ejercicio de espalda (dominadas)

>situps/crunches-->abdominales

Also sometimes called encogimientos abdominales or flexiones abdominales.

Here are some I haven't been able to figure out:

I know that a barbell is una barra, but what's a dumbbell (no wisecracks, please smile )?

Also, what's the Spanish equivalent of "Do you want to work in?" (That's what you say to someone who's waiting for a piece of equipment you're using, to ask if they want to alternate sets with you.)
