Volunteering in Madrid

Volunteering in Madrid - 12/22/10 09:05 AM

Has anyone done any volunteering in Madrid?

I work from home and go regularly to some local intercambios where I have met lots of cool people and have built some good relationships, but I would like to start meeting some more locals that are also helping to make a positive difference in the community.

Anyone know of a place where I can spend a few hours a week helping out and meet some cool people at the same time?

I was half way thinking of working somewhere for free just to meet more locals and practice my spanish.

Thanks!

Hi Colenot, I would suggest that you try a hospital. In NYC most hosptals have an organized volunteer program that you meet other volenteers, employees, and families of patients that will allow to practice your Spanish. Good luck,

I suggest go to meetup groups in Madrid and meet many other expats, they get the news of whats cooking best. Even if long time resident I attend some of their get together in Paris and its great. You can see this site

plus this one on general expats and explains about volunteer jobs

hope it helps

Hey thanks, guys! For some reason I didn't get any message alerts in my email showing that their were responses to my question.

I'll see about the hospital situation.

I actually already belong to a couple of groups on Meetup.com and I agree, it is a good place to meet others.

I guess I was looking for something that would force me to get out of the house a few days a week.

Thanks again!
