Leaving stuff at Hostal Lopez (in Madrid) - 02/21/01 03:12 PM

Hi folks, keep up the good work!

We are staying at Hostel Lopez next week and I was wondering if they have a safe to leave valuables in or can they be left in a room?

Secondly can anyone reccomend a friendly bar around that area to watch the Spain England game?

Bus or train to Toledo? can someone finally setlle this one ! and where's the best place to catch it?

Cheers!

While I can't possibly guarantee that you won't have any problem, I can tell you that the fine family folks at the famed Hostal Lopez have told me that they have never had any robberies at their hostel. And, for as long as I've been collecting email about the hostels in Madrid, I have never received anything regarding robberies at Hostal Lopez.

There are no safes in any of the rooms at Hostal Lopez either and the rooms are opened for 25-45 minutes each day for housecleaning. This is typical for all hostels.

Regarding a friendly bar in Huertas where one can watch soccer/fútbol, I think there are a few English pubs, but don't recall their names. I know there are a few threads in the Eating, Drinking, & Entertainment forum about this topic though.

Same goes for bus or train to Toledo. You'll find this for sure in the Transportation forum. Have a GREAT time in Madrid and Spain! I know you will.

Hey, Gilly, check out my post under Hostels & Other Lodgings (it's recent, so you'll have to scroll down to the bottom). I have a few words to say about this very issue there....
