La Nochevieja ( Madrid )

For any of you guys who decide to brave the crowds this new year´s eve in La Puerta del Sol , bear in mind that the police will be on hand to stop anybody entering the square with glass bottles ... I´m not sure that it will extend to plastic bottles too though the the thought of drinking champagne from a plastic bottle does not appeal ! Best to take your grapes down there and then dive into a bar or appartment to partake of some champagne/Cava .

We will be eating our grapes to the sound of the Bell in Puerta del Sol this evening. We are in Filadelfia (Philadelphia, USA) but we do it every year.
We've also got our Freixenet in the chiller; so we're covered as far as Cava & Grapes go.
But MM usually has some links posted so we can see what's going down at the Puerta del Sol on one of Madrid's TV Channels.

Eddie, et.al., while it's still not clear to me, I BELIEVE one can watch live online the New Year's Eve festivities at http://www.rtve.es/television/ around midnight or shortly beforehand. RTVE doesn't stream live online except for special occasions like the recent Christmas lottery. Also, probably, on TeleMadrid SAT at http://www.telemadrid.es/contenidos/html.pag?pagina=pag_46
