Madrid: Do Spanairds wear tuques? - 08/12/05 06:27 PM

I'm going to Spain this November and it'll be the first time for me to go in cold weather. Do people in Madrid wear tuques? I always wear one here in the winter but this is Canada where it's extremely common. I don't want to wear one in Madrid if it'll make me look like a tourist.

Thanks,
J

First, I don't think it will be cold enough in November to wear a hat. I often travel Spain in the winter months.

I have noticed the young people almost always go bare headed in cold weather, but they love scarves around their necks and you see some ear muffs.

The older men wear caps when it is cold, like the one Andy Capp wears in the comic strip. I carry a similar cap in my pocket and pull it out as needed. There have been many days in Galicia when it has come in handy!
