Leaving next week.... - 03/02/01 09:31 AM

Hi there,
I am leaving next week for my first trip to Spain. I have read all kinds of things on this board, but I still have a few questions for those who have been there. Should I bring a heavy coat? Should I bring a raincoat or would an umbrella work? What should I anticipate wearing to a night club? If you can help, I would appreciate it. I have checked the boards and I know that the average temp is 60/35 in March, I am just not sure what I am going to need to bring.

You don't say where you will be. A raincoat is very practical especially if it has a lining that can be zipped out-- it serves as a heavy and light coat. Otherwise a medium warmth coat should do fine, + a good umbrella. Unless you are going up north, you don't need a winter type coat. Light gloves/scarf are always easy to pack and useful items in case you get a cold streak.

I'm sorry. I forgot to say where I will be. My Itinerary is as follows:
March 8,9,11 Madrid
March 10 Sevilla
March 12, 13 Barcelona

OK, my advice holds, you don't need a heavy winter coat in any of those places. But Sevilla has been getting a lot of rain, so def. bring a raincoat. I was glad for mine, and sorry I had a tiny folding umbrella-- next time a bigger portable will be in my suitcase!

People in Spain dress really nice for nightclubs. I would say try to wear black pants as opposed to jeans, and little tank tops are popular as well.
