I can highly recommend 'El Nogal' (C/. San francisco, 14) in Avilés.
Good prices and large portions of well prepared food. 'Menu del dia' (3 courses and drink included) gives you a chance to sample the evening fare for a fraction of the cost so you can try out meals before ordering them, when more expensive, in the evening or at weekends.
Has smoking and non smoking areas, staff are efficient, friendly and cheerful.
Get there early for lunch or you may have to wait for a table as it gets busy...
