When are you going to be in Barcelona? Starting January 1st, 2006 all bars/restaurants must have a non-smoking section OR be totally non-smoking. Isn't this correct, Spaniards?

As for specific places, I think you'll be rather welcome anywhere. Spain's restaurants - and the country in general - is so family friendly.

Anyone have specific suggestions? Good luck!

Not totally right.

Starting Jan 1st all establishments bigger than 100 square meters must have a non-smoking section, that cannot be bigger than 30% of the place or be totally non-smoking.

But for smaller establishments, it is on the owner's choice if it is totally non-smoking, or if (s)he allows to smoke at her/his place. If the latter, it must be clearly stated at the entrance and kids under 18 won't be allowed to stay at the place.

Another matter if this law is going to be enforced, especially on the first days of its vigence.
