easter in Madrid? - 10/28/04 09:08 PM

G'day all, We will be visiting Madrid during the easter weekend. Can anyone tell me if most shops and attractions will be closed as they are here in South Australia. Also will there be any special events happening that we should know of.

thanks for your help

I suggest that you take the short train ride to Segovia on Good Friday. There, you will see a typical procession. It involves many crucifixes, people with masks, some light flailing, and hand carried floats that end up in the main cathedral. It was quite a spectical.

Retail shops will be closed as they are most Sundays in Europe, but you will find enough restaurants and bars to make you happy.
