Chueca is a great gay hangout in Madrid and is friendly to all. I went there a lot the entire year I was in Madrid. Give it a try and see how you like it.

I spent a bit of time in Chueca during my recent trip to Madrid. The Calle Fuencarral was being dug up, so it wasn't the easiest place to negociate! I do like Chueca. It reminds me a bit of the Marais area in Paris but is much more relaxed. I had a couple of cafes con leche in the Cafe Figueras a favourite haunt of mine during my first trip to Madrid in 1986.
