Madrid Sunday:El Brillante & Médicos Sin Fronteras - 06/11/09 03:04 AM

This coming Sunday, all day long at El Brillante Bar at Atocha and also at C/ Eloy Gonzalo, 12, all income made there will be donated to the "Doctors Without Borders" charity. I just received an email notice with the information.

Can anyone think of a better excuse to go to El Brillante's terraza on a nice (and probably hot) Sunday for one of their famed Bocadillos de Calamares?? (fried squid sandwiches) Oh, and don't forget the beer? cheers

Anyone else want to go? Should we schedule an early lunch or maybe an early evening there and hope to get a table at the terraza?

Saludos, MadridMan yeah

Sunday's coming up fast! Anyone up to get down at El Brillante for lunch on their terraza? Say, around 1pm?

Madridmam, I would like to go to El Brillante on Sunday. It's one of my favorite places in Madrid but I will not arrive in Madrid till Thursday, June 18.

jcoste01, Madridmam???? First, I'm a "man", not a "mam". And second, it's with a double capital "M", as in "MadridMan". Talk about butchering of a fine trademark name like mine, your own host. hehehe... Here, have a Sahou Beer. wink (pronounced, Sow Beer)

Looks like I'll be at El Brillante allllll by myself, sweating it out on the terraza alone. I just hope it doesn't rain - AND IT MIGHT!

Had a nice lunch at the Atocha-side terraza of El Brillante today, large mugs of beer along with the following raciones: calamares, morcilla de burgos, tortilla española (whole), and Azaora (sp?) de Cuenca. All totaled, about 80 Euros went to the Médicos Sin Fronteras.

Hey MM-Did you mean "Zarajos", the deep fried chitterlings wrapped around sticks?

Re: Madrid Sunday:El Brillante & Médicos Sin Fronteras - 06/14/09 03:18 PM

THAT'S IT, MONGO!! ZARAJOS de Cuenca, they were called. Thanks very much! I'd never heard (nor tried) of them before but they were pretty good, skewered on a stick and (seemingly) deep fried.

Thanks!! thumbsup

Double-Capital M's, if you please, as in Madrid - Man (but together, as in "MadridMan"). It's a trademark thing. smirk
