Almaria ~ Have you been there? - 03/24/04 11:13 AM

My 17 yr old daughter will be staying with a family in Almaria for 4 weeks this summer. She made friends with the exchange student from Spain and will be going to stay with her and her family. After 5 years of learning Spanish in school, were happy she gets to go and learn the language better and just experience a new place. (We live in a small town in Northern California). Have you been there and what was your impression? Gracias...

Will she stay in Almeria city or in another town?
Almeria is a nice and small mediterranean port city, it has a beach, a moor castle (Alcazaba) and a LOT of tapas.
Around the province there are beach resorts like Aguadulce, coastal nature parks (Cabo de Gata) , an arid desert-like interior where Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns were made and high mountains.
