Sunday in Madrid-Visit Toledo?-Urgent,please. - 03/29/01 08:52 AM

Hi,
I've JUST found this site and I leave for Madrid (for 4 nights) in 36hours (ie Sat 31st March 0800 UK time) so I need a quick reply please.
Our first full day in Madrid is Sunday. What is good to do on that day? We intend to spend one day in Toledo. Would the Sunday be a good choice?

We enjoy Art Galleries, shopping, eating and just wandering around looking at sights. Please, no sports!

Thanks in advance
DavidF

Hello David

The Prado museum is open on Sunday from 9am-2pm but is closed on Monday - so perhaps you should do Toledo on Monday.

There are other museums as well in the general vicinity.

Here is a link to the Prado's website:

Also keep in mind that the museum admission is "free" on Sundays from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Good luck

Tomas,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Sounds a good idea. However, is Prado likely to be overcrowded on a free day?

By the way, I tried to click onto your website but could not connect.

Thanks David

I would recommend going to Toledo on Monday, and visiting either the Prado or the Thyssen on Sunday.

Re: crowds in the museums on Sunday, when I visited Madrid this past January, I went to the Thyssen on Sunday. It was busy, but no busier than the Prado was during the week.

Plus, I believe that buses and trains run to Toledo more frequently on weekdays, as opposed to weekends. Have you checked the RENFE schedule?
