El Ratón Pérez ( Madrid ) - 04/10/09 06:28 AM

Many of you will know the story of El Ráton Pérez who lived in a biscuit box in a pastelería in Calle Arenal ( Madrid ) . Often missed ,there is a plaque celebrating his life above the door at Calle Arenal 8 . To see his life sized statue you have to walk into the building . It´s opposite ( very nice for a hungry mouse ) the cheese shop .
onMadrid , which is a free magazine that comes with El País newspaper has an article saying that the museum in honour of Ratón Pérez has now opened at C/Arenal 15/16 ( 1st floor ) . Children go free and adults pay just €1 !
According to the article it´s a small , but magical space ..
The story of Pérez was written for the young prince . who became king , Alfonso xiii .
Open Mondays 17:00 to 20:00 . Tuesdays to Saturdays 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 . Closed on Sundays and holidays .

Ok thanks guys for the correction , but El País definitely headlines the article as " Casa Museo del Ratón Pérez " .. I do agree , however , that "Ratoncito " is more widely used !
Thanks again Vero and Pedmar .

Of course little Spanish kids now save their teeth for el Ratoncito Pérez and wait for their present, but the original book was called "Ratón Pérez." All little madrileños know where he lives.
