Car Rental

Hi! So looking forward to my first visit to Spain arriving April 8th. I want very much to see places outside of the cities so thought perhaps to rent a car would be good. I have been told that it would be less expensive to rent the car here in the US (?) Has anyone heard of that? Is that true or even possible?

I have rented many times in Spain and the absolute bar none cheapest I have ever found is www.carjet.com ... they are about half the price of Hertz, Avis etc ...

I've rented cars in Spain dozens of times and it has never been cheaper for me to do so via an American site. I usually use the Spanish sites for europcar, national/atesa, pepecar, or easycar.
