Aircraft Rental?

Aircraft Rental? - 09/07/07 08:14 PM

Here's a long shot question...

Does anyone know of businesses in Spain that rent general aviation aircraft, such as Cessna 172/182 or Piper Archers or Diamond Aircraft 20's and 40's? Typically, they would be at flight schools or charter operators, smaller airports and such.

I'm not sure about the laws for flying in Europe with an US license, but would like to be able to fly in Spain and am looking for these types of operations.

Gracias!

Hi admiral,

There are a few places about Spain that will do this, certainly with PA28īs and C172's, but they tend to be clubs and want a monthly membership fee.

Where are you looking to fly and I will recommend some sites.

Your license is not valid in Europe, we are in JAA land here, but I believe it can be converted but with patience. The spanish CAA is not the quickest operating organisation in the world !

Happy flying !

Jamongris,

Thanks for the reply. Of course, I would like to fly in Andalucia, because the Med is nearby and excellent views. However, areas south and south west of Madrid are also of interest.

Any recommendations you have would be much appreciated.

I plan to save up some time and money and then work with a flight training school in Spain to add to my license.

Gracias!

Admiral,

If you're an instructor already and looking to work here, then Madrid is going to be your best bet because it has more flying schools than other areas. Of those to work for I would recommend either Aeromadrid or Aerofan.

The other key school in Spain is in Jerez, and is used by a lot of UK airlines to train their pilots.

If you are looking to fly light aircraft for fun, then that is a different matter. Aerofan again can help, but then there are a few other clubs/schools based there.

The other school I have heard of with a good reputation is in Malaga...

Hope that helps a bit.

Jamongris,

Muchas gracias for the info. I don't plan to work/instruct. I just want to see Spain in another way and make a grand adventure of it and also use my license. I'll probably take local instruction in order to be proficient and then fly with a local pilot on different legs of the trip. Eventually I'd like to earn the European license but that's a long way off.
