Is it possible to see segovia and el escorial on the same day as a daytrip from Madrid? How?

Rental car might be your best bet: Juliá-Tours ( http://www.juliatours.es ) has an Avila & Segovia 'package' and last year TrapSATur (91 541 63 20) had a La Granja & Segovia 'package' and a Toledo & El Escorial 'package' but none that I know of have El Escorial and Segovia on a single day tour. confused

You might want a complete day for Segovia. You can go by train (Regionales) from Chamartin pretty easily. The ride is about an hour and a half and the station in Segovia is about a 15 minute walk to the old city.

To get to El Escorial take the C8a (Cercanias) from Chamartin or any other station in the center (ie Nuevos Ministerios or Recoletos). This takes 45 minutes. When you arrive in El Escorial take the bus parked outside up to the top of the hill. It's very convenient.

Eddie,

Although the link you provided is the official site of Julia Tours, it doesn't say anything about the tours in Madrid and its surroundings.

Julia tours, Trapsa tours and Pullmantur all have the same packages, prices and even schedules. There are no difference among them.

This year packages don't include Segovia & La Granja but Segovia & Avila (they have changed their leaflets in April 2001).

Laura,

Eddie was right. There is no El Escorial & Segovia tour. There is one package including El Escorial / Valle de los Caidos & Toledo.

Regards,

Antonio
