car rentals in Madrid - 10/10/00 08:39 PM

Does anyone have any thoughts on car rentals? Is one place just as good as the rest? I will be pick up the car at the Madrid airport and would like a company that is at the airport. What kind of small car is good for one person, fast but simple. Thanks Mark

Hi,

We can offer you a Citroën Saxo for 6.615 pesetas per day or if you want a faster car a Citroën Sxara for 7.755 pesetas per day, you have to add a airport suplement of 2.000 pesetas and 16% taxes.

Check travelocity or any other travel.coms. I think their rates are cheaper when you book from usa.

Avis on the Gran Via - around $120 for 2 weeks - unlimited milage - Opel. Reserve thru the Avis international website or via phone. Have used them for a couple of years now and car, service, etc. has been excellent every time

Ditto for Hertz, using internet rates... good deal, good service, no problems...

Have a feeling that booking on the internet gets you cheaper prices every which way - they save money and pass a part of it on. FYI - your credit card number HOLDS the reservation - you are not charged until you actually return the car.
