Threat of Strikes on Iberia?

Threat of Strikes on Iberia? - 09/25/00 03:55 PM

I am looking for a good fare to Madrid this December. We were
hoping to go 12/21 to 1/1, but $634 on British Airways is the
cheapest we can find. We may go the week before, where I've found
a cheap rate on Iberia for $395 direct (all prices include taxes). Any
suggestions for better fares will be appreciated. Is there any current
threat of strikes on Iberia at this time?

Although you didn't specify your departure point, traveling during the days you specified - Christmas/New Years - $395 is dirt cheap!!! I fly Iberia when possible - more comfortable, better service - and, believe it or not, edible food. Grab those tickets and enjoy ...

Sorry, the departure point is New York City, and the $395 is for the week before X-Mas. We wanted to find something cheap the week of X-Mas and New Years. Otherwise we will take the $395.

You're considering Iberia ? I guess I could put up with anything for 7-hours for that price too. hehehe.. Anyone remember the long (and not so flattering) " Iberia Scary-aghh " thread from last May-July?

I found the same price for Air Europa, but also found out their pilots are currently on strike, so I will go with Iberia and hope for the best.

I had no problems with Iberia in 1992-3, but haven't flown them since. Puna, how much good luck have you had?

Flew Iberia in '97 and '99 - In '98 used TWA - and that was the WORST flight I have ever been on ....

Flew Iberia two times in the past 2 years and they were fine... depends on the day, delay, etc. ALL AIRLINES are potential nightmares!

I completely agree with rgf. "All airlines are potential nightmares".

Although I have flown a few times, from the people at Hostal Chelo I can tell you that all airlines may have problems losing their customers luggage, arriving late...

Antonio

PS: My sister and I flew Iberia from Madrid to Barcelona the first week of July. It was great and we even got an upgrade on our way back. We payed tourist internet fare and we flew in business class!!. BTW, I think it wouldn't be worth to pay for business class in such short flight.
