NYC accomodation - 09/16/05 06:56 AM

Hello everyone,

I will be in NYC by beginning of Dec, attending a conference. Can anyone recommend a clean, safe, cheap (up to 100 dollars per night) hotel/hostel? The room at 350 bucks per night at the conference venue (Marriott) is just not affordable on a residentīs salary. frown
I have been to the city before. I guess what I am looking for is something like the Hostal Adriano, transferred to NYC...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi aidance, hi JoeSambuca,

thanks for the input! I really appreciate it.
Joe, I saw Billīs awsome pictures of the MM gathering at Katzīs. Looks like you guys had a great time. Thanks to those pictures I have an idea now where to have dinner on arrival in NYC...Those sandwiches certainly looked great.

Hola JoeSambuca,

thanks for the offer, I will be in touch. I would love to got to Katz' for a sandwich - as long as I do not have to fake anything ;-)
Too bad, I could not be in Madrid for the MM gathering without MM...Saw the pictures, anyway. Looks like you guys had fun! God, how I miss those nights going for tapas!
Anyway, solved the accomodation problem, I am staying with friends after all.

Does anyone know how to get rid of post Madrid blues??? frown frown
Just joking, yes contact me if you would like to go to Katz Deli. I should be around all of December till the 28th where I fly to Polonia or Madrid.

We just returned from NYC, where we stayed at the Larchmont Hotel in Greenwich Village, on W. 11th between 5th and 6th. Great location, and it really is a European-style hotel, charming, quiet, low cost, spotless, great service, with spotless bathrooms down the hall (we never waited for them). The people staying there were mostly from Europe--we met a few Brits and French. I would definitely stay there again. You can't beat the price and location. There are TV's and phones in the room, also books to read, and a sink. You can open the windows, which is nice also. We paid $119 per night for a large room with a queen size bed. I believe you can get a double or a single for less. A decent continental breakfast is included.
