Madrid - Hotel Preciados Review - 10/06/07 05:20 PM

We recently spent 6 nights at the Hotel Preciados (Metro Callao). It was great. We showed up about 9:30 am and they had a room ready for us in about 45 minutes (well before the 3:00 pm check in time). We stayed in a standard double with a queen bed. It was a decent size room - we did not feel like we were standing on each other. The bathroom was a nice size as well with a powerful shower.

Positives: Big bath towels in the bathroom, free safe, free minibar (juices, sodas, water and beer) that was stocked daily, mechanical window shades that went up and down at the touch of a bedside button (perfect for taking advantage of an afternoon nap - or beating jetlag - or drowning out the late night revelry of La Noche en Blanco), great location (near Opera and Callao metro stops) - walking distance to Gran Via, Puerta del Sol and many other places or generally three metro stops to every where else, front desk staff spoke basic English (but porter and maintenance staff do not) and lovely, modern room decor.

Negatives: None that I can think of....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would choose this property again.

Wow! Thanks so much for the review, pbhorton!

One question, probably the same one everyone else has upon reading your review, you wrote:

Quote:

What? Really? The minibar was FREE? You were charged for anything you took from it? If so, wow, that's really unusual, I'd say. And IF so, that's a BIG PLUS! How many times have we been in the room late at night and wanted something to eat or drink and only had to choose from the $3 candybar or the $4 bag of nuts or a $5 half-size-beer? Can you confirm the contents were really free? Thanks!

Again, we all appreciate the review. Why didn't you contact me while you were here? I would've gotten together with you at least for a beer. Keep it in mind the next time you come to Madrid, won't you?

Saludos, MadridMan

Yes, it really was free - it had 2 Schweppes Spirit drinks, 2 waters, a coke, diet coke (or coca cola light if you please), orange juice, pineapple juice, beer and non-alcoholic beer. Stocked daily!! And we did need stocking - very thirsty from all that walking. But there were not any snacks - we did bring some with us for the late night food needs.

We will hopefully be going back to Madrid (if only for a day or two as we have the travel bug now) so we will contact you!!
