Hotels in Barcalona

I have family visiting (again) this fall and they expressed an interest in going to Barcalona. Any recomendations for hotels?

I've been doing some checking and I'm a bit surprised at how expensive it is. Adding to it is they are paying in CDN dollars so you have add 50% to everything
