Madrid: Hostal Persal - 06/11/06 09:48 AM

Has anyone stayed at the Hostal Persal ? Did you like it? It is by the Sol station but how close? Is it acceptable for a 19 year old boy at 60 Euros or would a cheaper one (30Euros)in the same location with its own bath be just as good or better?

Hostal Persal (web: http://www.HostalPersal.com ) is located near Puerta del Sol but is next to Plaza Santa Ana. You should know that the small plaza directly in front of Hostal Persal, called Plaza del Angel, is undergoing a large construction project. If you're going at the end of summer or early fall it might be finished by then. Still, it's a good location.

I toured this hostel in 2000 and you'll find my review as well as a number of other reviews from people who've stayed there by conducting a SEARCH using keywords MADRID HOSTAL PERSAL.

It's considered one of the more expensive hostels in Madrid and is really more like a 1-star hotel with its streetside entrance and lobby - unheard of for hostels (called "hostales" in Spain). In Madrid it's hard to find a hostel room for 30 Euros with it's own private bath for a DOUBLE room - more likely to be 40+ Euros. But you're asking about a SINGLE room, correct? Single rooms don't typically have private bathrooms. Usually only the double rooms but "Double Rooms For Single Use" would more likely have a private bathroom for a price somewhere between the DOUBLE ROOM price and the SINGLE ROOM price.

Is it acceptable for a 19 year old? Absolutely!
