Hi, I am traveling to Spain for a study-abroad program that has students stay with family hosts. I would like to find my own apartment, but I am not sure which neighborhoods in Madrid would be safe and also what the going price for a monthly rent are for those neighborhoods. Can anyone help? I will be there May 20-June 17. Thanks

Seems to me there was a recent thread in the "Safety & Security" forum regarding safe neighborhoods in Madrid. You might consider conducting a search to find those details of which neighborhoods to possibly avoid when choosing your apartment.
As for rental prices, I can't personally tell you. Have you conducted a search for that here? It may yield something. I'm sure it's been covered. Anyone have any fresh/updated information for estudiantedelespanol on this topic?

www.idealista.com and you'll get a pretty good picture of rental prices all over the city.
