Seeking Mid Range Special Hotel Recommendations

Hi All,

I am so excited I found this website...I am going to Madrid, Barcelone and San Sebastian in August and am looking for hotels. I read all the great info posted, but it is mainly about cheaper hostales. I am looking for special, mid range ($100-150)places with character and charm rather than amenities...

Any thoughts?

you could also try the state run Paradores . These are historic monuments (castles, monasteries, churches, etc) that have been renovated into first class hotels, maintaining their historic charm. The website is available in English and there are many Paradores around the country. In the larger cities such as Madrid or Barcelona the parador is located in a smaller nearby town.
