Granada near Calpe? - 04/10/04 12:39 PM

My family and I will be visiting the Calpe area in June. It has been so long since we have been to Granada, am interested in knowing how far travel distance is to Granada? by car... and do you have to get tickets in advance to la Alhambra/ would it be really crowded in June? Trying to figure out some not too tiring day trips from the Calpe area. Thanks.

Granada, definitely, is not a daytrip from Calpe. There are 407 kilometres between those two cities (about 3 hours and a half of non-stop driving).

Murcia is interesting and doable in a day from Calpe. There you can visit the Cathedral, the Salzillo Museum (Salzillo is the sculptor who made in the 18C. the pieces that are processioned during Easter in Murcia), and the old mill by the river now converted in a museum with the old machinery used in flourmills and exhibits about past, present, and future water technologies. Here you have the Murcia Tourism Website (with English version).

Albacete? Well, there's a saying in Spain: Albacete, caga y vete (Albacete, sh*t and go!). 'Nuff said. smile
