Madrid: Hostel for my rowdy friends - 04/28/02 10:18 PM

Madridman,

I will be in Madrid for two full days. We do plan to see as many sights as we can, but we are also three young guys and will definitely be up for some partying Friday night, May 10th. I was wondering if you could recommned a fun youth hostel where we could meet similar people, possibly near the nightlife (for an easy walk home). I'm willing to bet we will need a 24 hour access hostel as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was so impressed with your Hostal Lopez comments, that I wanted to stay there no matter what, but they do not have rooms available for that night.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott!
Be forewarned. I don't think many hostels would appreciate rowdiness in their establishments. Hostels, called "hostales" in Spanish, are family owned and operated budget hotels and are usually for singles or couples. You might want to consider a youth-hostel instead (called "Albergue Juveniles" in Spanish). There are few in Madrid and you're more likely to find young, like-minded partiers.

Do a search in this forum using MADRID YOUTH HOSTELS and you'll find the previous postings listing the youth-hostels in Madrid.

Still, you could always book a hostel and do your partying OUTSIDE the establishment and use the hostel only to sleep. smile

Good luck and have fun! Saludos, MadridMan

Thanks, Madridman, the youth hostels were what I was looking for. The last thing we want to do is come home at 4 in the morning and try to speak broken Spanish to a family who is already pissed-off at us. I'll do your search for youth hostels. Thanks again!
