Madrid: looking for housing - please adivse! - 09/07/05 07:24 PM
I'm a New Yorker who is moving to Madrid in late September and I am looking for a place to live. I was hoping to find a roommate situation but I have no idea where to start. I've tried Craigslist but the pickings were slim. Any advice or guidance would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks!

Nikistar, I tried madrid.loquo.com on RobbieRoy's suggestion and it's working for me. I'm close to securing a place. Lots of places with pictures and you can get a feel for the people via e-mail and phone. It does take a bit of trust, but I'm sure it works out.
I'll be making the move late September so let's keep in touch!

I think
segundamano has a good selection and a wide range of apartments; loquo (lately, for me) has been a bit pricier.

If you're still looking, I just saw four places today and signed with the second one I saw - a friend picked up the paper version of segundamano and we had such awesome luck. There were so many more apartments listed in my price range (around 600 euro for a 1br/studio), and apartments that hadn't already been listed. Good luck.
