Madrid: Looking for Apartment

Madrid: Looking for Apartment - 06/12/05 10:50 AM

I'll be headed to Madrid at the end of August to begin my graduate studies. I'm looking for an apartment to rent at least through May (not sure yet when classes end), basically in a safe neighborhood, close to public transportation.

Any suggestions on areas of the city or places to look online would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to have something lined up before I arrived.

Also, is it pretty easy to find roommates? I've been in contact with a gentleman my family knows, and might rent from him near Plaza Espaņa, but it is a little pricey - although it seems like a very nice apartment and neighborhood. I'd think that once at the University (Saint Louis University), I'd be able to check with classmates, etc to find a roommate.

Thanks!

Hi jessicalee!

You may find info. about housing in the official St. Louis University web page:

St. Louis University Housing

In addition to this, you can check online newspapers such as:

Segunda Mano

Renting can be expensive, that's why lots of students look for roommates in Madrid. If you've got enough time and you don't mind commuting, another choice would be to live in the suburbs.

Good Luck!

My old falt mates have a room to rent. Great people in a friendly house. Spanish and English spoken. Here is the link to the message I posted.

Thank you for the suggestions; SLU's 'top priority' is understandably students living on campus or in host families, so they don't provide much help for those of us looking for apartments or roommates.

M - I recently emailed you, looking for a little more information on the flat.

Thanks, all.
