New York- it's grub time!

New York- it's grub time! - 08/30/03 03:19 PM

Hola amigos,

I think it's about that time... the time where all us tri-state folks get together in manhattan for a night of vino, sangria, tapas, y fiesta.

Either the 2nd weekend (12th/13th) or 3rd weekend (19th/20th) of September works for me...

Any ideas/suggestions folks?

Ya nos veremos pronto!

Un abrazo,
Bobby

Well... since I have to be in NYC on business the 3rd weekend in September, I vote for Sept. 20 -- preferably around 5 or 6 p.m., if others find that agreeable.

19th please! The 13th works as well but the 12th and 20th are out for me. I hope I can finally make it to one of these events!

I can make it on the 19th, as long as it's relatively early in the evening. I have a professional certification exam in NYC the next morning, and need to get a good night's sleep. But I'd love to meet some of the Madridman.compatriotas.

Great to see we are getting some interest already! Let's wait until this weekend to see what everyone else's schedules look like, and I'll set the date and place for our fiesta.

Hola Todos!
Nate, that place is called cafe' Riazor.
I agree its a good place for gatherings.
Right now I'm looking @ the 19th or 27th as a good date.

Ok cool, the 19th seems to work for everyone so far. We can definitely do Cafe Riazor, but does anyone know of any places that have some kind of live entertainment (like flamenco?).

We can meet up around 7 for dinner, then move on to local cafes/bars to round off the night.

Let me know your thoughts- if we can get a group of 8-12 like in previous events, it'll be a blast as always...

Thereīs one in Brooklyn... Canīt remember the name. I know they have a website, though, cause thatīs how I found them! One of my friends had gone and said it was great. So do a search for flamenco and spanish restaurants in NY and it should come up. I was gonna go w my friend but they didnt have flamenco that night we were going out so we ended up going to Xunta.

Is anything happening with this idea? If not this weekend, maybe sometime in October?

Maybe we should postpone this event because of the possibly inclement weather plus the fact that a lot of people have emailed me and told me that they will be unable to attend.

I don't want people to try to brave 100+ mile winds or rain if most people can't make it, so I think the best idea would be to maybe postpone it a month of so until people free up.

What do you guys think? If there are at least a few people that can definitely make it, I would still be up for dinner. Either way I'm sure we'll find a way to have a great weekend!
