If you want to meet some Americans to possibly hang out with you can try taking one of the free English conversation classes at EBC. There are many Native English speakers new here in Madrid getting their TEFL certificate each month. They often go out for drinks after the classes and all need to do one to one projects with non-native English speakers in Madrid to complete their course. You can contact the school directly for the schedules. Also you might want to consider some of the intercambios / language exchanges around Madrid.
