Help how to top up Mobile Madrid

Can anyone help me with this one. How do you top up a call by call Spanish mobile phone? I thought you just bought a phone card and punched the number in but when I went to do that they wanted my phone number????? Why would that matter?

Quite a few options, depending on the most convenient for you.

1. Take it to a shop of the same brand for example Movistar and give them cash. They will ask for your number and you will receive a text informing you of your new credit.

2. Most bank hole in the walls offer the service, usually commission free.

3. If you have a spanish bank account and log on to it on the internet, you can usually top up mobile phones there.

I've never seen the credit card system we have in the UK here, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Thanks, I stopped by and asked for a "card" and they needed the number, but since I never call myself I don't know it, also I wasn't so sure about handy money over and not getting a phone card.
