My last bottle of "La Casera"

My last bottle of "La Casera" - 09/03/02 12:05 AM

Should I use it now, or wait until closer to my return to Madrid in November?

Next trip I am bringing an extra bag and filling it with conservas, Casera, anchoas artesanos and anything else I find that you can't get in the USA.

Mongo, it's a shame you couldn't take advantage of the Tienda.com sale on the La Casera 6-pack which was going on a month or so ago. I recall that it was downright cheap! Now La Casera is no longer available through Tienda.com. Good luck!

And if it was me, I'd split the difference between now and your next trip to use that last bottle. Or, use it for a very special occasion. smile

Sadly,I was the one who alerted MM board members about the sale, and was waiting till I had a sizeable order to get my Caseritas...Well, frown frown someone bought them all, it was probably Calibasco.

Mongo, you should send that Casera to me, right now. It's the only sensible thing to do, plus you can use it as a tax write off as a charitable donation.

Alas, I wish I'd bought the Casera when it was available on tienda.com, but I wasn't able to get there in time. Now I'm reduced to e-mailing idle threats to their webmaster. frown

My buddy in Madrid (a tapas bar owner) keeps telling me he will ship a case to me. My Spanish is not good enough to convince him that I am SERIOUS!

Mongo: Let me help you...and get it before Oct. 5...I'll be in the Cities that weekend.

Just read this over the phone to your amigo in Spain:

"¡Tío, te lo digo en serio...o me mandas una docena de Casera o te parto la cara!" laugh

Yes, a bottle of La Casera is truly necessary!
You know the saying: "Si no hay Casera, pues nos vamos"

ALL GONE! I mixed a tinto de verano and drank the rest straight.

BTW CaliBasco...It was great! (You may have a La Casera "mono" on your back!) wink

I rationed another 6 pints in my bags this trip. I hope it lasts until my return in April/May!

I'm going to be controversial here, but although I love most things spanish the delights of La Casera are lost on me. Am I alone in thinking this ? To me it is a way of ruining the excellent spanish wines frown or attempting to make an undrinkable menu type wine drinkable, and usually failing ! The same applies to when it is put in beer. If enough of you can suggest other uses for it I will try all of them in the hope to understand its appeal, but in the meantime I'm lost as to why anyone would want to carry it from Spain to the US.
