My Madrid Trip - 01/27/02 05:27 AM

Well, here I am in Madrid. Arrived Tuesday night from London Luton (landed 15 minutes ahead of scheduled - cheers Easyjet!)and since then have been walking around the city and getting to know the place again. The weather has been cold, especially yesterday (Saturday) which was the day I chose to take the Madridvision bus tour. I was freezing on the open upper deck but I am glad to say I stuck it out. Needed a few cafe con leches when I got off though. Today (Sunday) is my second last day in Madrid and I am wishing that I had more time here. This place still amazes me. One thing, I have not been able to find a restaurant which serves my favourite tapa, patatas bravas.... I must have some before I leave
Hasta luego!

Try MadridMan's fave Bar Brillante across the street from the Atocha train station... or do a search on this board. I think people have praised the patatas bravas of several bars. Have fun!

Hi Bri,
You lucky man.
There's a great place called Muniz on Calle de Leon off Calle De Las Huertas that had patatas bravas. Its a small place and they serve great food.
Have a glass of San Miguel for me.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Joe and RJF for your replies... finally got my patatas bravas in a bar near the Rastro on Sunday... just what I needed after a couple of hours browsing the market. I am now back home but I hope to return to Madrid in late April/early May....one thing...the estanque in the Retiro has been drained...shame as I had planned to have a drink in one of the bars next to it and watch the people rowing. I suppose all the maintenance work is done in the winter. Never mind, here's to the next trip!
