Madrid: laundry near Puerta del Sol?

Can anyone recommend a laundry service near Puerta Del Sol, also whats the average cost and how long does it take?

I just searched the message board and you might find the " laundrymats in Madrid " thread useful. mimi mentions one near Puerta del Sol, but doesn't give a specific location.

There's one at the top of Calle Cervantes, about 10 minutes walk from Sol. It costs about 300 pts per load and takes about as long as a washing machine normally takes. Say half an hour?

Thanks Madridman/Barry! It might be a stupide question but are they self service, here in Ireland you can leave it with them and return the next day etc, God you would swear that Madrid is an alien country!

Self-service is the norm. You only tend to leave stuff with a dry-cleaners, as waiting 2 or 3 days in the establishment might be something of a bore.
