Does anybody know if you can claim back the tax from your purchases and where to get the tax return forms?

Look for stores with "TAX FREE" signs in them, and they should be able to supply the forms for you, filled out by them. As long as you spend at least 15,000 ptas in 1 place you are eligible to get your tax money back. (If you spend 5,000 in 3 places, I don't believe you are then eligible to get your tax money back, or you'd have to fill out some other paperwork yourself that I am not aware of.)

If you are leaving Spain via Madrid-Barajas Airport, you must bring the filled out paperwork to the 'IVA' desk--a small window located to the left just as you go thru the central passport control area-- they will stamp etc, and you can either pop it right in the mail there (if you'll be getting it back via credit card or check) or then go across the isle and get your money back (in pesetas) from another desk. It's really not too difficult, and it's worth it in the end!

Hi CAN14! Welcome to the group! You'll find numerous postings on the IVA topic in the "Shopping" forum. Use the SEARCH link using IVA as your keyword in the "Shopping" forum. Good luck!
