Pamplona: 2004 Running of the Bulls! - 07/06/04 05:33 AM

TODAY'S THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Today begins the festival of San Fermines in Pamplona! Thank goodness just last week I got TVEi ("Televisión Española-Internacional") through my cable company so I can watch the "international version" of Spain's/Madrid's TVE and I'm certain they'll be covering San Fermín. Can't wait!! (right NOW on TVEi there's a program about "El Camino de Santiago").

Read (in Spanish) the ABC.es article HERE :

Todo preparado en Pamplona para que comiencen las fiestas de San Fermín
Pamplona. Agencias

Todo está preparado ya en Pamplona para que en unas horas comiencen las fiestas de San Fermín. A mediodía, desde un balcón de la Casa Consistorial y ante miles de personas agolpadas en las calles, el concejal socialista Jorge Mori prenderá la mecha del cohete que dará paso al desenfreno.

RUN FAST! Saludos, MadridMan

WOW!

I have friends who are there right now. I have also heard of some local Huddersfield girls joining in the "Running of the Nudes" protest yesterday.

Here is a clip of the protest from yesterday (it is a PETA video remember, so it shows some bits at the beginning of what some may class as cruelty to the bulls ...)

RUNNING OF THE NUDES

I'm not taking a stance on this, just passing on the info wink Until I've been and am more informed, I reserve judgement cool

I heard this morning that Dennis Rodman is coming to run with the bulls this year. Can't picture him in the typical 'pamplonica' outfit, though! laugh

Thanks for that website, esperanza!

Yesterday morning on TVEi they were showing live covereage UP UNTIL the running but NOT the running itself. I was disappointed to find that out when I got home and watched the tape. This morning, nothing was shown. What a shame. So I'll have to check that website tomorrow morning. Thanks!

Yeah! I noticed! It seems he and SEVERAL others were all wearing white T-shirts promoting an online gambling website. I could almost imagine them handing them out before the run to anyone who'd take one. Those shirts were in many many photos I saw of the running and made me wonder if they (the gambling website) PAID Dennis Rodman to be there and, with his popularity, would gain attention and no-doubt photos of his T-shirt and the DOT COM on it. rolleyes

UPDATE: I'm now almost certain he's promoting this online gambling website. JUST NOW I saw a short interview of him sitting on the balcony of and video of his running with the bulls from today and he was once again - two days in a row - wearing the same T-shirt AS WELL AS a hat with the gambling website's name. THEY MUST have paid him for the media exposure and it seems to have worked. rolleyes

Another decent website is: www.sanfermin.com. I use it to check on those taken to the hospitals well as for the photos.
