May Day celebrations in Spain? - 05/01/04 10:03 PM
This morning, at about 8, our doorbell rang. When I opened the door, there was a tiny basket, filled with popcorn and candy, sitting on the front step.
Through the morning, five more baskets arrived, all sitting alone on the porch after a neighbor child rang the doorbell and then ran away to hide.
I didn't know this "May Basket" tradition until today (we just moved here last year)--apparently, if you catch the person who is leaving the basket, you get to kiss them.
Cute!
Are there May Day festivities in Spain?
