WOW! Have you seen today's rate of exchange?

1 EUR = 1.21272 USD 1 USD = 0.824590 EUR

eek

That certainly will affect the spending of American dollars in Spain!! The days of bargains seem to be gone. A friend told me that the rate is expected to go as high as 1.28!!!

Yeah, I remember last semester when I was studying in spain...when the war started the exchange rates became terrible. In comparison, when I studied in Bilbao the summer before, the exchange rate was in favor of the usa dollar.
YIKES!

What's bad for you is good for us laugh

I adore to buy american books. American goods are cheaper now, and those who want to visit USA will find it surprisingly cheap. smile

And I'm doing my bit for the US economy too, buying lots of DVDs and books at bargain prices from US websites. I just got that classic of Americana The Honeymooners (all 39 episodes) for less than a night out on the town. Can't wait.

I'm sure many of us remember the days (just about, what, 2-3 years ago) when our USDollars would buy double what they'd buy us in the USA. Ah yes, we were rich then. hehehe.. I guess the only sensible thing to do is MOVE TO SPAIN!! wink

It depends. No matter that euro was designed to be an equivalent in value to dollar plus about a 10% to be psicologycally above it (by making the basket of currencies, it has been well under it, ad now is a 20% over the dollar.

These are tides that came and go.

Yes, the Euro's rates are rising, but it still pales in comparison with the British Pound (I've never been to a country so expensive)!
