i'm a student in spanish 3 at high school in ohio, i was wondering if anyone knew the meaning of the bear and the tree in la Puerta del Sol, like it's history or anything along those lines, we're having a terrible time trying to find it, anyway if you know anything either post it here or e-mail me @ threeten87@hotmail.com... thank you much....

Madrid is a ville that has had for centuries a bear and a madroņo (tree that gives a small and sweety red fruits) as the council symbols. That sculpture is just a representation of it.
