Does anyone know if there is any type antiques sale in Spain in September 2005?

Does anyone know a good source in Spain for maps, documents, books, farm implements or objects of daily living from the 1800's? These are for our personal interest, we do not sell or trade them.

There are shops that are all along the Rastro (in Madrid). They are open during the week and some on the weekend. They may or may not have what you are looking for. I would have my doubts about the farm equipment. Possibly books, and maps. They will have household antiquis, furniture and art work. I would check with Spanish customs before making purchases of these items, as some countries have laws prohibiting the export of historical items.

Have fun and stay safe. smile

It really depends on what you're looking for and how much you're prepared to pay. If you're looking at the cheap`end of the market, you want junk shops: look for signs saying Almoneda. There are a number in the Rastro. For quality, there are three main districts: the Rastro (look out for 17th and 18th century doors and window rejas), calle Prado and Huertas areas, and the Barrio Salamanca. There are some shops specialising in rustic, peasant type stuff – they tend to be in warehouses outside town and I'll have to get back to you on that.
The Madrid antique fairs are in November and December.
