Madrid: cheap interesting clothes

I'm a teenaged girl and will be in Madrid this summer. I'm interested in buying inexpensive, interesting clothes- used is good, but I read that thrift shops aren't common in spain? I'm interested in slightly offbeat clothes (not the Spanish Abercrombie equivalent)

You will find to your heart's delight that every Sunday in Madrid, they hold one of the largest "flea" market in Spain: it is called El Rastro. There are dozens of threads already started here on this board that will give you lots of information.
